The Grape Cure: My 30 Days of Eating Only Grapes
The Grape Cure - 30 Days of Grapes by Fruit Sugar Love
After going through my home library, I decided to re-read some of my favorite books—books that truly changed my life. These are the books that guided me to make meaningful changes to my diet and lifestyle in pursuit of better health. Some of them include Goodbye Autoimmune Disease by Dr. Brooke Goldner, The Mucusless Diet Healing System and Rational Fasting by Arnold Ehret, The Essene Gospel of Peace, 20 Questions and Answers on Dry Fasting by Dr. Sergey Filonov, and The Grape Cure by Johanna Brandt.
I feel so blessed to have come across these books, because they have completely transformed my life. Over time, I’ve taken a little from this book and a little from that book, learning to apply the best of each—by “best,” I mean what works best for me personally. As a result, I continue to experience excellent health, and I truly feel better than I ever have. I feel energized when I need to be, and fully rested and relaxed when it’s time to slow down.
To maintain my optimal health, I incorporate weekly, quarterly, and annual fasting into my lifestyle. This time, after picking up The Grape Cure again, I decided to follow it as part of my quarterly Spring fast.
For 30 days, I ate only grapes, as Johanna Brandt suggested. Honestly, I felt like I could have continued for 30 more days—but unfortunately, I could no longer find sweet or organic grapes in my local markets. So rather than force myself to eat unripe or sour grapes, I decided to stop after 30 days.
Personally, I didn’t experience any dramatic detox symptoms or major changes, but I believe that’s because I already eat an abundance of fruit and do not consume animal products. However, I can absolutely see how someone who isn’t eating a plant-based diet could truly benefit from the cleansing and detoxifying effects of a grape-only fast.
What I did experience, though, was a deep sense of cleansing on a cellular level. I say this because I no longer feel the urge to overeat. I don’t feel like I need to eat pounds and pounds of fruit to satisfy my hunger anymore. Instead, I’m much more sensitive to the signals my body sends when it says, “I’ve had enough.” That awareness simply wasn’t as strong before I began this grape journey.
I truly feel that this 30-day experience helped recalibrate my hunger signals and made me more in tune with my body—and for that, I am incredibly grateful. Overeating and gluttony can contribute to many dis-eases, and I’ve also come to realize that even plant foods, when eaten in excess, can lead to imbalance and poor health. This experience reminded me of the beauty of moderation and mindful eating, and I’m thankful for the lessons it brought me.
