Gardening In My Tiny Kitchen: Growing Microgreens
Growing Microgreens in the Fruit Sugar Love Kitchen
Growing microgreens in my very own kitchen gives me the confidence that I’m eating the freshest tiny greens in my favorite recipes.
I love adding microgreens to my salads, sushi, and avocado toast. Their fresh, crisp flavors are so delightful that I can’t resist snipping them straight from the tray or pot for a quick, healthy snack. I started growing my own because I grew tired of buying microgreens from the grocery store, only to find them wilted or nearly rotting when I got home. After discovering how easy they are to grow, I began cultivating them in my kitchen. I’ve experimented with various methods—soil, no soil, paper towels, clay pebbles, and sand. I don’t have a preferred method; I simply use whatever I have on hand, place them near a bright window, and nurture them with a little water. In just 7-10 days, I have abundant trays of nutrient-dense microgreens! Broccoli, arugula, basil, chia, sunflower, and chard are some of my favorite varieties.
